Fanomenon Day - 19/11 & 21/11
What do Gintama, One Piece, Evangelion, Murdoc Scramble and RedLine all have in common? Their all been shown on Fanomenon Day.
The first Fanomenon Anime Day features two giant box office hits, one incredible superspeed galactic epic, and the European Premiere of the first of a brand new anime series. One Piece Film – Strong World and Evangelion: 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance have dominated the Japanese box office in the last year, and the two films are the most acclaimed instalments yet in their movie series. Leeds favourites Katsuhito Ishii and Takeshi Koike are behind the phenomenal racing movie Redline, a must see on the big screen in a packed cinema. And we are delighted to present part one of the Mardock Scramble trilogy, the cyberpunk noir series that has been planned for years and is finally here in Leeds.
Plus an extra special exclusive for everyone attending the Anime Day at Leeds Town Hall – at midday you can see the European Premiere of Gintama the Movie, the first feature based on the popular sci-fi samurai manga.
The full anime day runs from noon to 11pm at Leeds Town Hall on Friday 19th November and includes: Gintama the Movie (noon), One Piece (2pm), Mardock Scramble (4.30pm), Evangelion: 2.0 (6.30pm), and Redline (9pm). Pass for the whole day is just £20, individual tickets are £6.50 / £5.00. All films are repeated, with the exception of Gintama the Movie, at the Hyde Park Picture House on Sunday 21st November from 10am to 6pm, in the same order.

AGM THIS WEEK!
We'll be holding the animesoc AGM this week, where we'll cheerfully give the old committee the boot, and wave in a shiny new selection of overlords.
A rundown of the different available positions are below, if you're interested in running all you need do is turn up to the AGM and when the position is brought up go up to the front and say a few words about why you'd like to do it, and why you think you'd suit the position.
For ensured success I'd also reccomend plying the entire society by regailing us with jewels and baked goods <3 *dreams on*
Executive Positions (University of Leeds students only)
President - Our main contact with the union, responsible for maintaining the running of the society, you'll get to decide who does what, when and how. Your the number one dawg. With the great responsibility attached to the role, you also get the privelege of being able to put as much work onto the other committee members as possible to lighten the load.
Secretary - Tasks for the secretary can include writing committee meeting minutes, sending out emails and generally providing support to the committee.
Treasurer - It's the treasurer's responsibility to keep track of the society's accounts, budget for the year (and make sure it gets stuck to!) and decides how much money should be spent on each expenditure.
Secondary Positions (Open to all members)
Social Secretary - (two positions available)
As the workload for social secretary is somewhat large for one person, there are two positions available to fill it. The social sec is responsible for organising our weekly after-showing socials, the weekend away, bowling trips and other social events. Roles of the position also include chatting to everyone and trying to herd as many people to the socials as possible!
Anime Officer - In charge of maintaining the library locker and it's contents, buying in the new anime, manga and games for the year and providing the library service. The anime officer should be present at every showing to deal with new loans and returns.
Committee Assigned Technical Positions
Due to the nature of these positions, they will not be voted upon by the society at the AGM, but by application at a later date (usually a week or two after the AGM) where they are voted on by the committee.
Webmaster - In charge of maintaining the website and forum. Tasks will include weekly website updates, Moderating the forum for spam and organising content, and updating/changing the website as you please!
The current site is written using simple XHTML using CSS formatting updatable through ftp, with the option of using www.cushycms.com as a backend, reccomended for changes to text and news.
PR Officer -
Responsible for promoting the society, creating posters, SubTV screen ads to run through the union for events through the year as well as creating the membership cards, guides and content for freshers bags.
