Animesoc Maid Cafe - Recruiting Maids & Butlers!

HeyHey.

This is regarding the Animesoc Maid Cafe Event we will be running in december.

We're looking for volunteers willing to dress up as an anime style maid or butler (pretty gender dependent here I'm afraid, not wanting to scare people off with cross dressing XP ).

The event will be on a SATURDAY THE 5TH OF DECEMBER from midday til 6ish upstairs in the union. We will be directing people up here from the union by tempting them with vouchers for a free cup of tea

Details on what EXACTLY will be going on haven't been finalised yet but here what you need to know for now.

1) Maids/Butlers will be required to provide their own outfits (for girls, lolita/anime style costumes prefferred, check out bodyline yokoso and ebay for cheapie/niceies. For guys I suppose suits and white gloves, hats and cane brilliant but optional )

2) We will be holding some form of trial/interview/meeting to select/organise candidates in a month or so.

3) There will be a meeting a month or so before the event where outfits will be organised (basically run past us what you want to use and we'll advise people who haven't decided/found anything yet! (this is going to need to be early as lots of the suppliers are international and require long shipping periods.)

Salad's picture's pretty perfect for butlers... the one you posted is, obvious as though it sounds, 'waiter' dress, and not butler dress ^^;

obviously tail coats are kinda the norm... but naturally very expensive.
i'm not part of this anymore (but i'm so happy you're still doing it) but i'd say waist coats are good so long as they're black, and gloves - check ebay is all i can say. you may even be able to get a job lot and save.
Generally... Tie's and bow-ties aren't worn... girls like that 'handsome but slightly lazy' aspect of guys.... XD

GIRLS: I am willing, if you'd like, to custom make headdresses for you for about £2-£4 each (depends how elaborate you want it). Also, if you want pinnies/Aprons i can do this too... infact, if you gave me enough time i could probably make the whole outfit for you... and so long as you were paying me i'd actually do it XD the headdresses are very straight forward to make, however, if you lack the time/skill, i'll happily do so for you
a good place to look is TK Max - they often have good blouses and then all you need is a big poofy skirt. Sara's a good one to talk to about where to find stuff.


accessories and little personalisations are very common in maid cafes... again, im not part of this, so ask before you presume, but it's something to bear in mind. also, hair is very important... and generally clean shaven boys... (that's clean shaven, not beardless, as we are westerners after all ^^;)

Yeah, yeah, I know they aren't butlers, but they're likely to draw in some odd girls with things for guys in spectacles, as in the anime.

If you want some more maid ideas I would recommend going to http://www.jlist.com and searching for maid on their catalog. If you're averse to seeing anything dirty, I'd go through their under 18 back door site of http://www.jbox.com. But lets be honest, looking at non-dirty maid items on a japanese catalog site, that will probably cut out most of the stuff on the site.

Ah, this is a saturday, I thought it was during the week so I couldn't help out. Saturday is fine though, but I don't have anything close to a butler's outfit...
